Now what?

This is where I am on the Texas Braid. I wanted to make a large throw, so I don't want it much bigger than this, but I do think it needs another border. I thought I wanted a blue with cinnamon, but I don't have anything that goes. The ladies in my "late night" group think I should go with a dark blue and I think that would work if I have anything in the right color.

I haven't had much time to work on it, so maybe this week . . .
I'm starting to battle seasonal allergies. Is anyone else?
I'm linking this to Judy's Design Wall Monday to see what everyone else is working on. I know I spend a lot of time each week getting inspiration from all the shared projects!

  2. Looks terrific! I haven't had the courage to try this yet--sure that my braid will wonk all over. Me, I think the one red border is fine, but if you must, dark blue sounds good!

    1. I just followed Bonnie Hunter's instructions in her Leaders and Enders book and it came out surprisingly straight. I thought it might wander a bit, but it didn't.

  3. Saw your link on Design Wall Monday and had to come check out your Braid. It's lovely! I have wanted to make one for eons but couldn't quite decide what colors to use so it has stayed on a back burner. I love yours and am going to see if I can find more posts on your blog of when you were actually sewing it together so I can see the colors more clearly. So glad you posted this.

    1. Thanks, Carol! If you click on the label Texas Braid it should bring up all posts that have that label.

    2. I've looked through them. I don't have that book, but do have a pattern that i think has the exact same name. Don't remember what size strips it calls for. The scrappy blues is what caught my attention for your darks. Some appear to be on the tan/brown side. Did you use fabrics that have blue in them? And what about the lights, lights with blue? Blue has always been a favorite of mine and I have a LARGE stash of blue.

    3. Bonnie used 2 inch strips, but I had 2 1/2 so I used what I had. I cut my pieces 2 1/2 by 6 1/2 and also had to compensate for the bottom triangles, but I don't remember what size they were.

  5. How is this coming along, did you get your border on? It's just gorgeous. This is a quilt I really want to make in the near future. I really love the red accents!
